: 09 LMM Fuel pickup buyers beware!!!!
rgullett83 04-23-2009, 06:12 PM Finally getting started on all the mods to Mightymax222's truck, and was gonna start at the fuel system and move forward. Pulled tank out, then sending unit and Surprise!! new sending unit completely different than the previous models, just my luck.
rgullett83 04-23-2009, 06:23 PM Here are a few more pics, I am afraid to keep pullin on the black "bridge" for fear of breaking it. The sending unit has 2 orange "plungers", on the bottom, that is where the fuel is drawn into the housing, the "horn" looking piece on the bottom is the fuel supply line.
rgullett83 04-23-2009, 07:01 PM ok if you look at these pics, I am thinking of drillin a hole where my finger is, and also drilling and tapping the pickup to hold it in place, and then on the bottom of the sending unit, drilling 3 large holes in the molded spots, any suggestions?
rgullett83 04-23-2009, 07:10 PM Am I the first person to put a lift pump and change the Fuel supply Pickup on an 09?
Tanc Crusher 04-23-2009, 07:32 PM Unfamiliar with what you are doing for a lift pump. Which lift pump are you installing. I'm only familiar with an Airdog 150 Gen 1 setup.

rgullett83 04-23-2009, 07:53 PM Fass liftpump, but using a billet pickup.
Tanc Crusher 04-23-2009, 09:09 PM O never looked into the billet pickup on the Airdog 150 so no idea on it. Well once you get it done it would be a DIY to post in the DIY section.

rgullett83 04-23-2009, 09:57 PM I think what I want to do will work, but just a little redneckish. I just really hate to hack up this sending unit, and have this not work, and be stuck buying a stock sending unit until some one makes a pick up that will work. On another not anybody got a sending unit for an 05 or newer Dmax, that they want to part with?
axlenut 04-23-2009, 10:34 PM There are some complex fluid dynamics going on within that sending unit, its not just a simple float or pick up. FASS sells a pick up tube assembly for the 01-09 GM: FASS STK-1001 1/2" Suction Tube Kit 94-09 Ram, 01-09 GM, 99-09 FSD that might be what you are looking for. www.klmstore.com/fassstk-100112suctiontubekit985-045ram01-07gm99-07fsd.aspx I would suggest contacting the pump manufacturer for model specific instructions and advice.
Failing that, try the pump without the billet pickup, it may not be necessary.

I dont think that the pickup is necessary, but for optimal performance it is supposed to help. The pickup did not come from FASS, but another vendor. Thanks for the reply, I may just run off of the stock pickup until something else is engineered.
axlenut 04-23-2009, 10:47 PM I edited my reply. Check the link www.klmstore.com/fassstk-100112suctiontubekit985-045ram01-07gm99-07fsd.aspx
