Hi, I have a 1995 heavy half ton silverado. I want to build a 6.5L and put it in place of my gas motor. I plan on taking out the old 4L60E trans and dropping in a 4L80E, that doesn't seem like it should be that hard to do. Also should I get a wiring harness from a 6.5L or is the only difference for the electrically injected pump? Would it be easier to put a mechanical 6.2L pump onto the 6.5L? Does a 6.5L have any computers that I would have to switch, and would the plug ins be the same? Thanks for any information!!!

The swap would be easiest if you could find a mechanical 6.5 and a 4L80E with a stand-alone controller, but those are harder to find. If you do fine electronic motor, the motor and trans computers are integrated so you will need the whole thing and the wiring harness.

I have never done a swap but i know people who have and from what i have seen and heard you would be be better off to buy a truck with a 6.5 in it already there are lots of people who have done it but i would think the computer would be different and lots of other stuff good luck if you go for it.

Right, it is best to get everything from one truck.
