I have an '04 D/A ext. cab long box 4x4. I am having the intermediate steering shaft clunk problems everyone else is, but unfortunatly am on the list for a "back ordered" replacment shaft. So I bought the GM grease kit to get me buy for a while. After installing the grease and reinstalling the shaft, I noticed as I was tightening the pinch bolt on the steering box input shaft, as I leaned on my rachet I got a squirt of power steering fluid that ran down from the input seal. So I put the wrench leverage the other way (pushing away from the box to tighten) and got the exact same thing. I know I didn't have to remove the shaft from the box but I was kind of in a hurry trying to do this in my driveway between rain showers and before dark. My question is does th input shaft of the steering gear box plunge in and out a little bit? Never expected the shaft to move and leak fluid. I test drove afterward and checked P/S fluid and everything seems fine. Did I F anything up in the box or damage the seal? it dosn't leak now. Any help would be appreciated. thanks- Dmaxpower1:wtf1:
