: Vacuum Tube Bandaid- Cheap!

I did the bumped my optic sensor last weekend. I was unhappy with the performance since then. There was definitely more brassy noise inside the cabin and a fair amount of black smoke under heavy throttle. I was going to move it back this morning, but when I got the upper intake off, I noticed that I had a couple of snapped vacuum tubes, one of which lead to the waste gate actuator on the turbo.

Now I'm not sure if my idea is original, but it was cheap and effective. I used heat shrink tubes (sold for wire splices) to patch the broken vacuum tubes. After that, the performance is back, the black cloud is not more than a whisp and the turbo is singing that sweet melody again:D .

Off topic, but I have to share. My neighbor, a powerstroke owner, said my suburban doesn't sound normal. He accused me of having a Caterpillar motor in it....the nerve of that guy!:p:

I've seen bandaids on the vac lines before. I like this better.
