: What should I do with my Fuel Pressure gauge now?

About 1 month ago I purchase a 3 gauge set and A-Pillar from Glowshift. I've got the EGT in and working. I am ready now to install the pyro and fuel pressure. After reading this forum, I am more confused than ever.

It appears I can't tap into the bleeder screw unless I have lift pumps. (I Don't). I've seen people talk about using it as a vacuum gauge. What does that tell me? I really wanted to be able to watch my fuel pressure so I would know if I need to swap filter and/or upgrade to lift pump. Crap. I can't leave an empty hole in the A-pillar. What the heck should I do? Where should I hook it? Pics? I don't really want to spend several hundred dollars for a lift pump just to monitor my fuel pressure.

Maybe I can hook it to my wallet to monitor the money getting sucked out:p:

Swap it for a trans temp gauge? Only use you will get out of the that fuel pressure gauge is if you install a lift pump.

My LBZ comes factory with a trans temp gauge. Not sure Glowshift would let me swap anyway. I just read an article in the June 2009 Diesel World explaining how important a lift pump or dual CP3's are. Very interesting. Actually it gave an example of a Duramax LLY with PPE's Hot Plus II ET. It was pulling 437 brake power. They added PPE's dual CP3s and it pulled 517hp. Maybe I should add a lift pump. Crap. Looks like a lot more research for me.

Well some would take exception of the stock trans temp gauge accuracy. Heard discrepancies of as much as 50* between aftermarket and stock gauges. A lift pump is a great addition to these trucks, it supplements further HP mods nicely and adds to the longevitiy of stock parts like the CP3. Really cant go wrong for $500

I have the same problem, I got laid off too, so I can't just go buy a lift pump. could u hook up all the fuel guage wires but the sending wire, making the gauge look like it works for now?

Theres no reason you cant hook it into the bleader screw location. Its just not going to read anything. Just install it for now and save up for a lift pump setup.

So if I were to hook it to the bleeder screw, and purchase the PPE pump (under $200) would that register pressure, and help my performance when I go W.O.T. on my PPE Xcelerator on level 4?

the factory trans temp gauge is perfectly accurate. ;)

Absolutly, i did this on my last truck got the gauge before the lift pump hooked everything up ended up selling with out ever intalling a lift pump the gauge just didnt read anything was still lit up like the rest of them It is a rather expensive third hole filler but if you already have it, cant return it I would put it in rather than leave an empty hole in the pillar.
