I have heard of this before and was wondering how many of you do it? That is putting tranny fluid as a fuel additive to help keep everything clean. I had a buddy that used to do it with a 6.2 I was woundering if it would decent in a D-max.

No one here recommends that as far as I know.
If you feel the need to run an additive, get some Stanadyne or Primrose or FPPF or Lubrication Engineers' stuff.
Do a search....this has been discussed before, with pretty much everyone agreeing that the tranny fluid thing is an old wives' tale.

I used to do it when I drove concrete trucks. The mechanic said it would help lube the system. I think it was done because everyone pumped a gallon into the jug and didn't know what to do with the leftover.

Hey it took me awhile but I found something I remembered reading posted by George Morrison at AV Lube. I also remember reading something about the additives in atf won't burn correctly. -Shortcut

Regarding the use of ATF in our Duramax engine fuel system. Absolutely not... One of 300+ reasons: ATF contains detergent additization which can/will create foam in our ultra pressure high fuel system. Foam, any level, will wreak havoc on our high pressure pump. ATF did not harm fuel systems when system pressures were in the 3,000 psi range but with electronic high pressure systems, a very high potential for damage. There are so many high quality diesel fuel additives on the market which cost less to use than ATF and are designed specifically for disel use, why would anyone use ATF other than the unknowing? No.....

<!-- / message -->Regarding the use of 2 cycle oil. Again, our Duramax engines are *very* sophisticated diesel engines and I recommend using additives formulated specifically for diesel engines. Some of the home brew additives did no harm in older technology Cummins Big Cam III engines and the like but, no more..
