Okay, having a body lift and no fan shroud for my stock fan was working okay in the winter, but as it got warmer, it wasn't cutting it.

I decided to go electric with my fans but I didn't feel like spending 600 bucks on a setup.

I took the idea from jm8881, a guy in the 6.2 board and got fans from a 3.8L Ford Windstar minivan for 45 bucks, shipped to my house with a warranty.

I also got two Derale adjustable fan thermostats to connect one to each fan, as well as all of the pluming. These are way more dependable than the little shove-thru radiator probes.

I have nylon cable ties holding the fan up on the very top slots in the radiator which work nicely.

I have the fans set up staggered, one comes on at around 180 and the other comes on around 190.

Total cost for the project: $45 for fans, $100 for two derale NPT therms, 15 bucks for brass plumbing, 5 bucks for wiring and cable crimps, comes out to around $165 for a working dual fan setup.

Looks good. I'm planning to add a similar setup to my truck soon. I'm looking at a twin fan set from a late model Camaro.

you should get some wire looms. Holy wires.

I have a hard time believing that fans rated to cool a 3.8 liter
engine are gonna be able to handle the heat load from a 6.5,
let us know how it works when you've got a load in it going uphill

I've been looking for dual electric fans for a while, need a lot of CFM, about 5500 CFM per fan would be good. I think You want to aim for at least 10,000 CFM. I was thinking about four small powerful fans, to cover more radiator area.

Congratulations on the custom install, I want to know how much differance it makes in your fuel mileage. Good job by the way, wire looms would clean it up though, and protect the wires. :)

The best rated 16" fans I've found claim 3600 CFM each.
My oil & tranny coolers are going to be relocated under the truck, each with their own 9 inch electric fans & thermostats. Together, those stock coolers cover half the radiator, & draw more heat into it.
That will relieve the main fans to serve the coolant radiator alone (Well, there's the PS cooler, but that's tiny.).

I found a fan, but I don't remember dimensions of radiator. It is the fan off a Lincoln Mark VIII, and has a rating of 5000 CFM @ 14 volts. Follow this link for more information. (http://www.geocities.com/smithmonte/Auto/MarkVIII_Fan.htm) I'm hoping it will work, would be nice, seen as how it is was only $150 in 2002, so probably $200 now. Heading over to shop to take some measurements, wish me luck. :)
