Does anyone have any comparative information on Lucas Upper Lubricant Versus Stanadyne Performace?
Last month I finally decided to buy Stanadyne. First checked stanadyne.com whose price was $90 for 6 X 1/2 Gal. Then went to a dealer in Brownsville,TX but he wanted $117 - WHY (I can sell it for whatever I want!) Would not sell it for $90 as I would only make 13% - Needless to say I did not buy.
In Corpus Christie I went to a BIG Diesel Injector Service place who test, rebuild etc and they were dealers for both products. However, the technician said they sell almost no Stanadyne (only small 16 oz? bottles) but pallet loads of Lucas. He said it was just as good as Stanadyne and in the end I bought 4 X 1 gals for $52 including the volume discount.
I have used it every second fill-up but would appreciate hearing if others feel it is as good, better or worse than Stanadyne. When I contacted GM regarding diesel additives they said it is not needed or recommended, BUT if you are going to use it they recommend Stanadyne.
Interestingly Flying J sell Lucas (plus a few others additives) but not Stanadyne.
Anxious awaiting your feedback>

I used Stanadyne religiously in my 1999 6.5TD Tahoe, but that was because it had a Stanadyne injection pump. I was no fan of the price of the stuff, but felt very strongly that it was necessary to keep that pump properly lubricated and out of trouble. The Duramax, however, has a Bosch injection pump and although GM has deemed to "bless" Stanadyne as an acceptable additive, I'm much happier with FPPF Total Power, which is all that I use and use in every single tank of fuel for over 2 years and 100,000 miles now. The FPPF is a 1 oz to 10 gallons additive. A case of 12 quarts is just over $100 and lasts for nearly 2 years, even at the rate that I pile up mileage (about 30,000 a year).
