Hi all,
Noticed this the other Day on My truck and it just pi$$ed me off. futher to find out my ext warranty doesnt cover it.. the factory warranty is over due to millage... but the paint on my steering wheel is peeling... WTF.. i know its due to the oils on my hands, but still a peeve... anyways, theres my rant... Now, I got the part #'s for the trim pieces Right side is 15255097 and Left is 15255034. How do i get the horn/airbag off to replace these pieces??? in the latter pics, you can see the access holes on right and left side of the steering wheel behind the buttons, but can't see any screws in there...

Thanks all

I've seen a few posts here about interior paint peeling. Most of them are about the instrument panel. (dashboard). Also seen a quite a few posts about the use of Armoral being used for to spruce things up. Armoral and paint don't go well together. The Armoral label states not to use on painted surfaces. Could be that many think the dash color is in the plastic but not so. Best thing for cleaning up the interior plastic is a damp cloth or chamois.

I see that a lot of the 07.5+ trucks. Our shop truck did it within a couple thousand miles. I checked on it and to get those pieces you have to get the steering wheel but its a little bit different style of wheel too. I don't think its so much oil on the hands rather its just cheap paint on plastic and it peels off. IMO it would look better just bare shiney plastic then that ugly dull paint that our shop truck has on it.

Grant makes replacement steering wheels for our trucks. I like them, and would like to get one.

for some reason, chevy puts that paint top coat on the dash and other plastics in the new trucks too. you'd think they would have learned on the previous body styles that they peel.

Zipman, how much did those pieces cost? My wife's Tahoe is having the same issue.

I just noticed the paint peeling on my wheel too. Has anyone gotten it fixed under warranty? I still have less than 36k on the odometer.

Got a set of spoke covers from Autowood , Victor was a pleasure to deal with and I put these on in 30 Minutes , did not have to pull wheel ,disconnect the batteries wait 10 minutes , take the airbag off lay up on top of the wheel , then remove center section ,switch over the controls and back together, I like the results , waiting for a wood trim piece for the console tray the plastic scratched the first week I had it and the Denali piece is stupid money. Will post when I get it and install.

Any pics? Man they are proud of those things!!! $160 for just spoke replacements! I'm thinking about going the Grant wheel route.

The cost was actually $135 ($25) back when you send old covers back, got this for the console ,good match as well.
I went with the spoke covers cause its too loud for the wheel to have wood spokes and the wheel wood to , and the brushed aluminum it all gets too busy. It is expensive but I like the look.
The plastic on the console was scratched from the first week so this was a ggod deal. $26 shipped to my door because it breaks up a kit.
