I had my oil changed in November at a dealership because I thought they might know what they were doing. But I was talking to my cousin last week that works at another dealership and on the receipt for my oil change it says "D-OIL" which he said is drum oil, usually 5W-30, 10W-30.

Could this have caused any damage to the engine if I was running 10W-30 or 5W-30?

Just because they used bulk oil does not mean it was the wrong stuff (ie was 5-30 gasser oil). Call the dealer, or better yet go up there, talk to your service guy or girl, ask them to show you the bulk oil storage and tell them that you just want confirmation that they used the right oil. I'd be skeptical also, but seeing a drum or tank of 15-40 would ease my mind somewhat.

Or change it yourself for peace of mind.

X2...not all reference codes are universal from one service center to the other. It would be best to check with your service rep. It could be the ID for diesel oil.

x3 they both ahve the right idea. Just check with the dealer first before you get too worried.

The other part is even if they put gasser oil in there it won't harm it if you don't go too long on it. Diesel oil has more additives to combat the acids that the soot and diesel engines generate. Even if they put the wrong stuff in your not harmed by it just do a short interval 5k and change it if the muffed up.

Let us know what you find out.
