I am not that computer savvy to know if it can be done or not, but the cost of some of these programers is low and if you scimp on a $500 programer and put it on your $40,000 truck, then the only thing I can say is you get what you pay for.

i believe with some of the programmers, you can download custom tunes for them and load them on your truck. Diablosport has this option where you can request a custom tune, but i think it is for gas engines only. they will build a custom tune for your needs and send it out to you. You load the tune into your computer and then load it to your predator.

so that being said, i believe it might be possible that he may have a custom tune or he may just be full of it.

even yet, he may have been taken for a ride from the salesman that gave to him. he might be stating what he is believing from them.

another option maybe, someone purchased a custom tune from the manufacturer and burned the disk before loading the updated software to their programmers.

the way to find out is: ask who makes the tuner taht is loading the custom tune?

Diablo Sport offers "chips" for the powerstroke(7.3) There are hundreds of files to choose from, with chips that have more lower end power than upper, vise versa, you name it theres a file to fit anyones needs. You need a flash station to burn the chip once downloaded.............and this is a Diablo Sport dealer only set-up.

I haven't heard of it, but i bet it can be done. Your comp in your truck is not any different from the one in your house except for the functions that it performs.

Depending on the style of chip that is used, they are easy to copy, with the right hardware. Now to copy a EEPROM or UVPROM you'll need something like a EMP-20 or some type of reader/writer. These machines aren't cheap, but aren't overly expensive either(around $650 or so). A cheaper ceramic chip these days can be had for under $20 easy. Not knowing what Ford or Dodge(uses a chip as well) it's hard to say, but more than likely it can be done. I personally have a back up copy of the chip my motorcycle uses since our old robots used chips and I've been burned once by a chip "burning out" at $300, not taking anymore chances.

i know the guy mentioned that it was an 05 PSD so it had to have the 6.0....i wish i could have seen him take off to see how much black smoke was pouring out his exhaust....i know there wouldnt be any smoke from his tires. In addition i got no for an answer when i asked him him if he wanted to line em up...remember mine is a bone stock CC SB....maybe with him burning the program it made it slower...Perhaps the guy who burned it was a much smarter duramax owner. ):h

thanks for all the replies...
