Just finished the install of the brake system electrically this weekend. Brake works correctly while engine is cold, but will not work when the power switch is turned on. The lamp in the switch is glowing, but the green LED on the CBC module does not come on. Any thoughts as to what might be the problem. When the weather gets better around here I will check to see if power is getting to the CBC module from the switch. The kit did not come with a schematic diagram, just a pictorial.

Well it would seem that nobody is willing to help with this issue, or does not use an exhuast brake. I finally subscribed to ALLDATADIY.COM to get access to the electrical diagrams for my truck. I believe that the wire that gives the CBC module a speed signal from the speedo is the problem. No dought it is not making a good connection with the wire connector that was included in the brake kit. I will contact Banks tomorrow to find out just how this system is supposed to work.

Hey Runninhorn:
As far as I know the Banks exhust brake is just great. It has a unique feature that allows it to be a heat riser valve while the engine ia cold. This actuates the valve to clean the shaft of carbon. Once warm, the valve is wide open all the time. My problem is that the valve will not close for me when I turn the power switch on. I think it is because of the speed signal wire connection, which when working correctly keeps the valve from closing under 15 MPH. I will find out tomorrow, and will post a reply here.

If it was me I would have called banks first and let them walk you through it. If they don't know then you have much bigger problems. Wish I could help but I don't have one. I would sure like one though. Just don't have the bills for it. How much for the banks brake?

OK, well it turns out that all that was wrong was a installer error on MY part. The connectors that Banks uses are coverd male and female spade type connectors, and quick tap type female connectors that are covered as well. The wire that got a quick tap for speed sensing was ok, except that the male connector I put into it did not get the spade in the hole. Missed her completely paw. Made the connection the correct way, and man it works great. I finally have a functioning exhuast brake to help me slow down on those hills with that 13500# 5ver behind me. Life is grand. This brake has got to be one of the best ones out there. It actuates itself every time the engine is cold until it's warmed up. I suppose you could put a switch in the compressor circuit to cut it off completely, but why. The actuation helps to keep the valve and shaft clean of carbon buildup.
