Tried to install the ATS today and the new valve for the pump does not fit in my pump. I have a new 05 . My valve is longer than a stock 03 I compared it to and also longer than the ATS valve. The ATS and 03 valve are also about a 1000th larger diameter. So I have the tranny back in with the converter and clutches but no pump upgrades. My valve also has no hole at all. Does ATS have a valve for the new design?? Or do you not change the valve with the new design.

Check with Mike L., he's the resident install guru, usually will help if you give him a call...

Are you sure you are changing the correct valve? Double check you may have selected and pulled the wrong one

The valve we are talking about here is the converter flow valve, not the pressure regulator valve. This valve was changed in mid to late '04. ( If your front rotating assembly has no PTO gear, your valve is different). The Transgo Hot Rod valve will not fit the bore and neither will the ATS valve. Transgo has not made a late model valve but ATS claims to have their version, but I have not recieved it yet. I ordered it but they sent me the early version which will not fit. This valve cuts back pressure when the converter clutch is applied from 250 psi to about 150 psi.+/-. I recomend no changes to this valve untill we know for sure that something is going to work properly.

That sounds right on the money. I don't have the old PTO gear. I can't believe I am the only truck within the past year to try to install an ATS on a new truck. I guess I will find out tommorrow if they have this valve ready to go. What can I do if they don't have the correct valve. I went ahead and put the converter in and the clutch packs. I had the spring in the pump but took it back out to keep from damaging something without the new valve. I also made the changes for the Co-Pilot but did not hook it up. Can I run the big spring without changing the valve?

Install the PR springand don't worry about the converter flow valve.

If I don't run the valve what does it do or not do. Thanks for the help MikeL.

Look at my first post above. Valve is only needed for hardcore racing. Seems like everyone is going hardcore these days. ):h :D

Gray, your not the first to install an ATS in an 05. That valve is similer to the transgo valve and with the line pressure that spring will give ya......
