I looked at the sticker on a new powerstroke w/6spd one day and it said "diesel 6 speed man. trans". Is there a different ZF for gas engines different from the
diesels? If so what is differet and why?

Nope.

the 6 speeds on the ford diesel and gas are the same as the 6 speeds on the GM diesel and gas.

Yeah, but I think the bell housings are different on the fords between the gasser and the diesel.:)

So the trans gears are the same, and the final drve ratios are just ajusted with the rear end.

Am i incorrect in thinking that the 6.0L chevy gasser doesn't have the 6 speed that the 8.1 and Duramax get. I thought they got a 5 speed...

Nope...you're right....6 speed comes from the factory for the 8.1 or 6.6 d-max only
