does the summit 3 bar map act as a boost fooler

That's what it does. It has been internally calibrated to give a lesser value through the range with the same input vs. stock.

would it be any different if I moved my new MAP to the baro position on the firewall?
I still haven't gotten around the the voltage check QM, BUT it's on my list.

The baro is different from the MAP, different calibrations. It's unknown to me what will happen if you put it there but more than likely similiar results to putting it on the MAP connection.

You have a boost gauge, right, Bow?
Does SES light up when you're hitting over 10 psi or at a lower boost?
It is either due to overboost or underboost. Overboost would mean the new 3 bar isn't resisting enough, underboost means the vacuum system is failing to meet the ECM's desired boost levels, usually a sign of wg solenoid or failing vac pump.

QM, The SES comes on while at a steady cruise and pulling about 4-6 pounds of boost. When light comes on all boost is lost and it comes back when light goes out.
It will run up to 15 pounds but drops after that to about 10 pounds. I noticed the other night that I was holding 10 pounds at 70 MPH pulling my race car and no light was tripped.
Boost is good and truck runs great till that little lite shows up. I have tried running vacuum direct to the WG act. and light still shows up but boost hold cause it isn't controled by solenoid.

I might be comming that way (near, Ok.) I think the map is sensing overboost but the scanner will say for sure.

yes, I was waiting to hear back from DavidW about setting his optical.
