I have a power steering leak in between my master cyl and and hyrdo booster. Can I just take off the master cyl and replace the o-ring in between the two, or should there not be fluid in this area meaning the hydro-boost needs to be rebuilt/replaced. I can no longer find a replacement kit, except for at MBM and they only sell to dealers now. I really need this truck this week and i'm just trying to get it back on the road. Thanks

You can rebuild the unit, however the only issue you may have is the accumulator. (the silver cylinder that is sticking out) you need a special tool to change it. If you don't have a lot of expeience (which you may, no ofence intended) I would spend the dough and buy the unit with warrenty. It's safer, less time consuming, you have some to blame if it fails and you'll feel better knowing it's done right. Your family will too.
I am a GM trained mechanic. I hate to spend money on something that doesn't make my truck cooler. Myself, Iwould buy the new unit. I wouldn,t do half the job with a rebuild. Just my 2 cents.

Midnight, are you OK with store rebuilt units? I think I have to do my Hydroboost and was going to buy a rebuilt unit.

when i was trying to figure out how to swap hydroboost onto an originally gasser truck i called vanco brakes in CA
The problem i had was the rock ram also uses the power steering pump.
He will rebuilt and hi flow the hydroboost same cost as just rebuilding it. I think its $170
This guy only does brakes and he (Van) answers the phone. Guys from jeep forums and pirate 4x4 go to him for a solution. Very well known.
anyway i found my vacuum problem so i kept vacuum brakes and let the rock ram be.
