drained my pan after sitting overnight, it took just under 2 gallons to get back to the same place on the dipstick.

I presume you measured how you drained out?

yep, drained it into a pan then used one of these to measure it as it was poured into a container for recycling.

I did not trust the accuracy of this funnel thing so i used the entire funnel as a unit of measurment.

It took 8 full funnels (up to the 32oz mark) then a partially full one up to the 20 oz mark.

As long as you put in the exact amount you took out i wouldnt worry.

As long as your in the hash marks on the dipstick your good to go. I have heard people going between 8 and 9 qts when they actually drop the pan and clean it and change internal filter.

Sorry, I was thinking 7.9 quarts just draining the pan, not dropping the pan.

Also, when your truck is at normal operating temp, you can check the tranny dipstick level, and you want the level to be in the middle of the marks. Runs cooler that way...
