Are there any differences between the 01 and 02 trucks?

'01's are faster LOL

Some of the later '02's had Cat Converter in exhaust system, different air box & plugged the fender snorkels due some snow and water were getting into the airbox. '02's I think had the DIC as an option, not an option on '01. There was no big difference in the engine/tranny/rear diff. Some body styling differences.

All in all I think it was just a cloned '01 LOL

Are you thinking about buying one or the other?

They are pretty much the same except for the 01's were more likely to have injectors fail. Which GM covers on 01 and 02 for 7 yrs or 200k miles so no big deal.

90k miles on my '01. No injector troubles so far. Goes like hell. Leather seats aren't holding up all that well, but that's about the worst of it at this point. Just my $.02.

Yours must be the first '01 that I know of that hasn't had injector failure. Hope you never see a problem but if you do you're covered.

My 01 GMC has 63000 on it and haven't had the injectors done yet. Hope not to but am always looking for it.

We have a 01 with 160,000 miles on it, no injector problems to date. We did have an issue with mud, snow, and water getting into the air box until we took it in and had it replaced/updated. I can't find too many differences between my 02 and dads 01. I'd probably try to find an 02 though, just because it's more likely to have all the updates.

We are pushing 150k on our 01 and no injector problems yet. Could be coming soon although.

My 01 is at 102,000 miles with no signs of injector trouble. Only engine repair part I've installed (other than a serpentine belt before it was required) is the belt tensioner. A handful of bulbs and couple sets of tires and that's it except for a left wheel bearing just done at 99,000 miles and some impending other front end items. I have an August build 01 and it came off the lot with the airbox snorkle removed and a one-piece steel driveshaft. I've had none (knock soundly on wood!) of the "2001" troubles like injectors, leaking roof markers, flying door lock buttons, cold air leakage on passenger side, loose torque converter bolts or anything else!

Same here, nothing much to "gripe" about, (can't say the "B" word?) tranny switch went out, left battery leaked, fuel pressure regulator valve went haywire, rear spring cushions fell out, changed the airbox to '02 version, ........otherwise perfect truck, no injector issues, heck I don't even have the steering rattle LOL

Mine was born October 2000 as an early '01, but it's been great. Only 49,000, but about 40% of that was towing. Agree the leather seats don't hold up well and the darn seatbelt keeps rubbing the seat when I get in, almost poked a hole in it.

I still like the truck so much of course I still have it LOL and still buy stuff for it, just put a set of '05 extended towing mirrors on it and they work great.

They were not all bad and I've had my Nictane on since 30K and I still say it is what is saving my injectors. Don't get me wrong I do want the injectors to fail...definitely.....right about 190K! LOL

If they are still going strong at 175K, I will have to take the Nictane off to speed up the failure then put it bback on when I get the new set. Yippee

Has Bosch changed anything on the injectors since 2001?

My engine build date was 8-01, injectors replaced at 60K miles. Only time it has been to the dealer for service.

FWIW,

1. The '01 pcm is unique unto itself, the '02 thru '04 use the same ones, both soft & hardware differ.
2. The camper mirrors on the '01s did not have a very much needed blind spot mirror on the right side mirror, the '02s did, thankfully.
3. The '01s did not have a dead space silencer on the air intake between the air filter housing & the turbo inlet, the '02 thru '04s did.

That is all I have to add to the list, Todd.:)

Another 01 with 121,000 on the clock and no problems! We've only had it since 115,000 and I have noticed that it already has the tan NSBU. Wife loves it! Sometimes she lets me drive her around.):h
