: Just installed my Diamond Eye Turbo Back system
thohawk 04-12-2009, 04:59 PM I got a great deal on a Diamond Eye Front pipe back system. Just put it in today and It was not fun.
1st. The instructions are horrible. Freaking horrible. They list clamps and part numbers, but don't show which clamp and hanger to use at which location. It was a complete crap shoot. It was not fun. I searched this site hoping somebody had posted the actual installation instructions, but no such luck. I finally got everything in and clamped tight. Started it and I have a leak at pretty much every joint.. I've got a cousin that used to own an exhaust shop. I am taking it over to him tomorrow. I haven't even driven it yet. ARGGG!!!!!
How hard is it for the company to take an actual photo to show people what it should look like. The good news is that I got my turbo down pipe in and it works good.
thohawk 04-13-2009, 02:00 PM There are a few threads comparing MBRP to Diamond eye. As a Diamond Eye owner "GO WITH MBRP!!!". When I read the threads about how well MBRP went in and how it fit great, I could kick myself.
The second task on the install was to hang the muffler from the hangers so that you can measure the distance for your front pipe and the exhaust out the back. Problem is, the muffler is too short to reach to both hangers. WTF:mad:.
Secondly they should have included a coin with the kit so that I could flip it with each clamp when guessing where to install.
Basically you just have to start at the front, attach every pipe fairly firmly and work your way to the back. If you don't make the front connections firm enough, the pipe can spin and the hangers spin right out of there rubber boots and the whole assembly goes bouncing along the driveway.
One thing I will give it is the price was incredible at $349 and it sounds great. Depends on your threshold for pain I guess.
dmaxn04 04-14-2009, 04:06 PM Thats not good..
90tcom 04-24-2009, 03:04 PM Other than the installation, what are your overall impressions on the Diamond Eye system. Loud/quiet ? How does it look ? Get the leaks fixed ? Did you get it with the "quiet pipe". Supposed to give more power and also reduce interior noise.
Thanks!
gralewaj 04-25-2009, 05:55 AM That's a bummer, man....
I just added the DE downpipe and a cat delete pipe (MBRP) to my MBRP cat back system and it is 'DA BOMB!!! Other than the terrible location of the stock downpipe-to-turbo band clamp nut and the amount of force needed to remove said stock downpipe, everything went well for a solo install. Great results so far. I did not use the supplied MBRP clamps with my install, bought SS flat band clamps for each connection for easy disassemble as needed, such as removal of frontpipe with CAT. Worked great!
JDiesel 04-25-2009, 08:04 AM Yeah sorry about that.....I have the MBRP
thohawk 04-25-2009, 12:40 PM 90Tcom,
The sound is great. Really pretty quiet (not much different than stock. Unless I rev it up. I just got the regular 7" muffler that came with the kit. I still haven't fixed the leaks. Maybe in the next couple weeks. Actually I do like it now, but was really p!ssed off when I had to trial and error the exhaust on. Wouldn't be too hard to write much better directions.
As for power, this was the latest peice of the puzzle, so I already had all the other mods in my sig done. So by the time I opened up the exhaust, the truck really performed better. It was probably suffocating before. Huge mileage jump as well, but could be the other mods finally able to work their majic by exhaling better.
nwtdiesel 04-25-2009, 01:43 PM Sorry about you experience.........that sucks! I have put a bunch of Diamondeye exhausts on and they all went on real easy and fit great.
big_ole_blazer 04-27-2009, 06:22 PM I put the diamond Eye kit on my truck and I know what you mean about the instructions being a little vague, but once the pilpe is hung just look at the hangers they are all very different shaped... put the one that fits in the places where they are needed. I didn't have any leaking issues with mine... but that might have something to do with spending most of a night and most of a case of beer laying under my truck welding each seam tight.... I personaly hate just clamping exhaust. Ill spend the extra time and weld it up to make sure of no leaks.

Identical setup, DE DP and MBRP no cat or muf, is THE bomb. Band clamps all the way for easy disassembly. Need the muff every once in awhile for towing.
