Hello, I have a fuel leak. Fuel is dripping off of the two lines at the tank. I have cleaned them off and ran it but it but they have not leaked yet. I was hoping that it is the return line that is leaking instead of the main one. I am going to check again tomorrow. If i have to replace them i would like to do the whole lines all they way to the engine since they have scale rust on them. The fuel lines look like they go underneath the manifold. Do i have to take the manifold off to replace the fuel lines? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like your return line is the culprit. I wouldn't go to the trouble of replacing the steel lines unless you find one rusted through. The inside should be fine. As far as the rubber lines, use good quality possibly nitrile hose. If you want to replace the rubber line that goes to the inlet on the injection pump, you might be able to reach under from the back of the manifold, might be easier though just to remove the manifold.

It may be the rubber hose from the fuel line to the tank line (at the tank). Or the steel tube could be chaffing on a piece of sheet metal and a hole has developed. You will just have to dissassemble until you find the spot. You should keep any rubber hose away from any exhaust component unless you want a fire. Heat makes rubber very brittle. If I have to replace a brake line then I use brake steel tubing. I put some solder beads near the end to keep the rubber hose from slipping off the tube.

Hello, Well the line is leaking again now. It must be a little leak since it took almost a week to start leaking again after i wiped off the rubber lines from the tank just before they turned into the metal line. It is the return line that does not go into the fuel pump so it is running fine.

Sounds like you need to replace the rubber hose plus the clamps. Can you replace the hose without dropping the tank? I can't on mine and it is major job!!!!
