Hey guys;

Did some preventative maint on the truck today.........was running fine, but I dont need to get stranded anywhere.

99k on the clock.................

Fixed my slight harness chafing on the alt bracket.

Went to icepick the injector harnesses, and only was able to do #2. It came off pretty well, though I had problems getting the ice pick through without destroying the connector. First time through, it pinched the internal spade connector closed so tight I couldn't get the connector back on the injector;) Had to loosen my crimp just a tad and then got it to snap back on.

Was unable to get #7 back off the truck...........tried for 15 minutes, and just can't get it off. Oh well, I guess it doesn't need to be ice picked that bad:))

I guess it's a bit un-nerving that that tiny connection could leave me stranded on the side of the road if it failed........ I guess if it loosens up, I can always re-pick it on the side of the road, huh?

I just finished doing the same thing today at 135k. Mine's been knocking pretty good at part throttle, cold. I swear it's coming from the right bank.

Anyway, it's been posted here before, if you push IN and wiggle the connector while simultaneously pushing down the lock tab (not too hard), it will release eventually. I also mashed the spade connectors.

I would try to find as sharp of an icepick or awl as possible, with a long thin taper to the point, instead of the short taper I used. It made it difficult to go all the way through. I also unwrapped the harness tape to the injector behind the fuel filter, lessening the tension at the connector. PJ

Yes, I pushed in and then tried to release the tab, but can't seem to get it to co-operate. Doing it left-handed doesn't help, and I have some addt'l wiring in that vicinity from my Western Plow that makes space a little tighter. I will check and see about unwrapping the tape, maybe that would help. We're talking the Right-Rear side of the engine, about an inch from the firewall, correct?

Well, I understood the culprit was the injector directly behind the fuel filter at the right rear. I also ice picked the one at the right rear against the firewall for good measure along with the first one on the left side in front. So, I've done 3 out of 8.

If you stand above the engine right side on a stool or something, you can easily reach straight down behind the fuel filter to release the injector connector. I could not see that injector, but the connector tab is in plain sight.

EDIT: I am incorrect, #7 is the injector closest to the firewall on the right rear side of the engine per the DIY thread.

OK, take a small screwdriver and gently lift the OTHER end of the lock tab, where it engages the lock. You can see just a tiny bit of it (with a bright flashlight). That connector will fly off when you lift it.

The gentle part is important, if you snap off that locking tab, you're done for the day.
