Just got back from Florida pulling my 13,000# 5'er. On a few occasions thru the hills in TN and KY, I watched the engine temp on the Attitude get to around 225* before the fan kicked in. Tranny never went over 200.
So I decide I need to know more about how this cooling fan works on this truck. After multiple searches on this site, I think I've got it. Someone finally explained why the fan will sometimes kick on in the morning for a few miles on a cold engine. I would have never guessed that the fan is controlled by a temperature sensitive fluid in the clutch!
So when that fan kicked in each time at 225, it sure cooled things down and FAST!!:ro)
I really don't like to see those temps that high though. Would it be possible that there would be any different clutches available for the D-Max with a lower set point on the temp so it would kick the fan in around 210 or so?:help2:
Also, what other cooling upgrades are out there?
Thanks!
