Amsoil recommends their BMK-17 oil by-pass system for the Duramax trucks. The head unit is designed to hold two filters, one for the the Amsoil by-pass filter and one for the full flow filter (which replaces the factory full flow filter).

Do you have to buy the replacement full flow filter from Amsoil or do other aftermarket full flow filters fit the mount? The Amsoil number is SDF26 for the full flow replacement. Is this a proprietary thread or is it a "standard" industry thread of some kind? I would like to know what other brands of full flow filters work. Also, is the SDF26 a replacement for any particular OEM filter?

As a side question, is anyone using a filter other than the Amsoil BE-100 for the by-pass filter?

You can use any filter with a 3/4"-16 thread. That covers a lot of filters. For the bypass you will have to stick with the Amsoil or have and adapter made. JK might have them still, not sure.
