I am looking to replace the factory tailgate straps with something beefier. Do any of our vendors have upgraded straps? Thanks.

These where originally made because of lots of failures of the cable on the 01/02s. Since the recall back then I don't think there have been any issues, but by all means get then if you want them.

I am actually killing two birds with one stone on this one. Not only did my tailgate straps fail put the opening handle stopped working too. I want to replace all of it when I have the parts together I have a new handle but still waiting for the straps. There is a slight delay in shipping since I ordered some other things from Merchant that they didn't have in stock. I will let you guyz know when I get them. thanks again.

Where did you get the parts for the handle?
Mine stopped working a while back. The gate wont latch so I installed a slide bolt on one side to keep the gate up.

i got the stainless steel tailgate latches, best money spent, they look great and won't wear like the pos cables do.

Autopartswarehouse.com but if you shop around you may find them a little cheaper.

There's only so much load you can safely put on a tailgate, regardless of the restraint size because the sheet metal around the body pin which the restraint's clasp attaches to isn't substantial enough for excess loading. 375-400# static is about all you want to put on a tailgate.

I wasn't worried about load my originals broke so I just wanted something different, but the specs are good info, Thanks.
