Does anyone know where to find a black replacement bowtie for the front of our trucks?

I love how it looks, just can't find who sells them.

Slick - you could just mask the grille, scuff the gold a bit and paint it black...

I thought of doing that. What type of paint works best on plastic?

Well, if you just want to use rattle-can technology ):h dupli-color makes a product called "fusion" that's made for plastic.
If you want to spend more $$ and use a spray gun (I have no idea why you would go to this much trouble, but you could) scuff....plastic primer..then spray with your favorite brand of automotive paint with some flex additive in it...this would be very cost prohibitive though in my opinion.....

On My 2002, I Took The Bowtie Out Of The Grill. If You Take The Black Plastic Cover Off In Front Of The Radiator You Can Access The Two Nuts On The Back Of The Bow Tie. Be Careful. The Studs Are Plastic.
I Used The Plastic Paint From Krylon. I Sprayed It With 8 Coats And Baked The Finish With A Shop Light. Seemed To Work Pretty Well. 1 Year And No Problems With The Finish.

If I use the "rattle-can"(that was hillarious BTW) method should I use primer as well?

I painted mine Victory Red to match the truck. I took it to a local body shop, they only charged $20.

The gold paint lifted while powerwashing the bugs off right after I bought the truck. P!ssed me off, so I aimed the power nozzle at the edge of the bowtie and it started to lift off. I helped it off gently by prying a little. Used some 0000 steel wool to remove all the gold paint then spray painted the backside of the bowtie black. Then used silicon sealant as a glue and pressed the bowtie back in place. Looks great and even in the AZ sun and 110+ degree temps and hard hot pulls out of the valley the bowtie has never budged. Easy to spot my truck in a herd of white chevy trucks!

I painted mine white to match the truck w/ GM spray paint. I used a bit of primer, and scuffed the plastic really well first. Sprayed it with clear to protect it.

when i first got the truck i found a guy on Ebay who was doing custom paint to the bow ties. he had one that was black with the red band a round it. I just had to remove the stocker and replace with the new one. I think it cost me about $40.

I thought I seen one on Ebay a couple days ago made of billet aluminum and powder coated black with the SS engraved in it.
