Less than 1000 miles on my new 2005 Duramax. Already changed to aftermarket exhaust with intallation of '03 lb7 front pipe to lose the cat. Disconnected EGR per instructions found here. Will driving my truck daily with check engine light on damage my new investment until I install blocker plate and finger stick upgrade?
Had no idea my truck this high tech with emission garbage. Kinda freaked out about this.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

Thanks for the advise!

Hey Jeff, so did you get the tripped code after installing the pipe, or after unplugging the EGR? I was going to order the front pipe, but I don't want codes. Did you do both at the same time?

Thanks.!

the pipe is more likely to trip the code then unhooking the EGR

Thanks.!Installed complete exhaust w/cat removed=light on after 2 days driving.
Cleared codes yesterday morning=light off.
Disconnected EGR last night, drove this morning=light on within 10 minutes.
Time to get the goodies.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

Unhooking the EGR will always code. Exhaust mods might code. Light or no light with EGR codes depends on the emissions package on your truck.
