Anyone else having a problem with paint chips on their hoods and the bottoms of the front doors. I have only had mine for a five months and have a ton of them. Going to call the dealer tomarrow, but I am sure they will tell me it's my problem.

my guess is that the stock tires seem to throw LOTS of rocks at the truck. adding the splash shields helped a bunch, but still get them...............

I have some too. Basically, I have Bugflector the hood and plan on putting running boards to protect the rocker panels and doors. Not sure why the paint chips so easily. Maybe it needs more time to harden. Another option would be to add on 3M Clear Film to the rocker panels and hood. I seen this film on a brand new Chevy. Apparently, the owner has this problem before and has decided upfront to apply the clear film to the problems areas before it happens.

Me too. I've had lots of crew cab GMC's but never this many stone chips. This is my first white truck (20,000) miles so I thought it was the color that showed the chips up so much. I was trying to explain away the problem but I think it IS a paint problem. Looked at my old truck (son drives it) with 30,000 miles and not nearly the amount of stone chips. I recently added mud flaps.

I got a couple of chips on the fender and on the hood by the cowl and I don't see how a rock could have caused them. I am thinking that this paint hates to go through a car wash.

On my Father-in-Law's, I washed it last week and I was spraying off the soap at the car wash and the painted part of the front bumper and about a 4" square piece came off. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif He was not upset but I was. The truck is only 9 months old. Does this sound normal? I guess a rock or something may have hit it and loosened the paint? Oh well, he is going to see if GM will do something about it. If not, we'll have to get it fixed.

Welcome to the "Wonderful World of Cheap-A$$ GM Paint"

Why put on a thick coat when a thin one will do just as well?

My '02 has chipped rockers and Dupli-color touch up is my friend. ):h

Some guys have went so far as to use colored Line-X on their rockers.....

I've had my truck for just over a year now, I bought it used, and when i got it there wasn't a scratch on it. Now I don't even like to wash it because as it dry's in the sun it looks like total crap. My color is dark blue by the way, but i'm like the rest of you, terrible rock chips all along the bottom rockers, hood, sides, tailgate, EVERYWHERE!!! I live on gravel farm roads which doesn't help, but still, my other trucks were never this bad. Don't feel bad though, I have a buddy with a 04 Ford thats black and looks just as bad. I guess nobody has good paint anymore:( . What do you expect for $40,000?????

I think the goal of GM is to sell $45K disposable trucks that are suppose to be broken and look like chit after a 100,000 miles so you'll spend $50K the next time around for another disposable. I don't even drive mine anymore ...I have mine on blocks in the garage so I can drive it without the paint falling off. MPG is up too :)

I am with Nar...Linex everything....I saw an astrovan that had been done...not too bad.

I going to linex the rear rocker panels....but my hood...I do not know..I hate bug deflectors...I guess I will just have to get out the touch up paint.

i have a gravel driveway, and i'm convinced the stock tires just suck in the stones, only to throw them up into the rocker panels and wheel wells as i start driving down the road. got about 20 chips behind each of the 4 wheels. put on the mud flaps, but still get a stray rock here and there. you can't see them without bending down, but that'll be the first place that starts to rust.
