VipeRTBlck 04-07-2009, 09:27 PM i have a recall for the cluster on my truck(2004). sticking, stuck, inoperative needles. expires 7 year or 70000 miles. truck has 73000 on it and speedo just started to stop and not go below 15mph; reads 80-90mph while actually doing 60. if the dealer won't be kind and help me out on this recall because i'm 3000 over; what does it entail for me to fix this on my own...procedure, price, etc. thanks Tanc Crusher 04-07-2009, 09:59 PM There are some post on replacing the gauge cluster stepper motors. Where to get them and how to replace. You can send it off to a few places to do this for you. Of course you have no gauges if you drive it till you get it back. Other is get a new cluster and have dealer service copy mileage off old cluster to new cluster. You can buy them on ebay for $30 or $35 for six which will replace all of them or seperate... When you buy them it comes with instructions on how to do it, its not hard... The only thing that I kinda messed up on is my speed is off by 2mph, but saved alot of $$$....My tahoe and d-max both went out right at 80k, nice couldnt have been sooner... Brinker007 04-08-2009, 08:42 PM Technicar in Oldsmar,FL rebuilt them for me when I worked at a dealership. Dunno if they will do it for a individual but you can try. You will need the vin, mileage, hours, and part number off the back of the cluster. They usually cost me around $180 with overnight shipping. chevydieselsmoker 04-09-2009, 01:05 AM i got a brand new one from uspeedo for 400. black face chrome rings and blue backlit looks pretty nice with cobalt gauges:) i think a stock replacement from them was 325 but that was last spring | ||
