Ok guys and gals. I managed to sneek over the barb wire, swam the mote, and tip toed through the mine field to get some sneak peaks of the new Banks Sidewinder Top Dragster!! The test fitting is done, the fuel system is done, and the final assembly begins! Check it out:

...........Now, with an early May date set for the machine’s national debut and the clock ticking, much of the “detail” work is being done in earnest............


I'm guessing early May means the TS Outlaw event..... especially since that event gets lots of ink in the mags :D..... It could also be that Colin Banks reportedly has said they hoped to debut it there.

I must admit that really appears to be a very tight schedule. Assuming the pics JB posted were just taken, the crew has to finish assembling and wiring the beast, then then I'm assuming multiple trips to the strip to get it dialed....... and have it across the country by May 9th. I sure hope they can pull it off, I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing it run. :D

Somewhat. The arangment is a little different as the manifolds are mounted backwards on the engine.

That's the BankSpeed race ECU and BankSpeed nitrous controller. BOTH will be made available for retail sale after the testing is complete. :D

Update, saw on another site that despite the valiant efforts of the race team, the rail has had some teething problems with the tranny that will prevent them form going to the TS outlaw event.

On the plus side, from the partial runs made..... it looks like it will be re-writing the record books this year once they get it dialed.

I should make a correction here, it had a cooling system up until about 20 minutes ago. The radiator and fan have been removed as the engine was running way too cold.

I would assume the waterpump just pushes water/coolant through the block and piping to prevent hotspotting.

That's it right there. The pump is still there's but there no radiator. It seems the team had a really hard time getting the engine up to temp.

You probably need to remove the Banks ram air intake system:rolleyes:
