Hey guys.....another question for ya.

What is this "oil piston spray block" I just read about? Seems it might be in the 97-99's if you have a certain block code.

Where is the code stamped/molded into the block at?

Which is the bad code #'s?

And how will I know if and when the block gets cracked (is it internally and can be seen in the oil or externally and can be seen running down the side of the block)???

Also, is there any other problems known for the '98's like mine? I did notice the other day my connection hose between the turbo and intake seems to be getting oilier and oiler.

Thanks again !

The cracks the blocks ('97-'00) seem to get are on the mains, through the oil spray channels, and on cylinder walls. There have also been a few thrown rods and broken cranks. Just floor it and enjoy it till that day comes.

I would use the block cracking (a known and documented fact) to barter down the price on a really nice '97-'00. Look up the NADA value deduct $3500 for a replacement engine, And walk away with a smile on your face. When the engine does go and you shell out the dough to replace it, you'll only be up to the NADA value, but with a fresh zero mile motor.

Thanks QM and MDT.

Sometimes I'm bad to baby my stuff too much to try and avoid the inevidable. I do need to just enjoy my things more and not worry til it goes ka-blewy !

LOL MDT, When I boght my '98 last year the NADA book was $15K and I got it for about $12K.....so I guess I'm right on the button and didn't even know it, LOL ! ! ! !

Thanks guys !

Also, where are those block numbers ya'll mentioned located at? And is there any other known problems to look out for in a '98???

Thanks and Take Care.
