I am about to purchase one of two Kodiak trucks and could use some opinions.
1) 2003 Chevrolet 5500 100,800 miles, 8' hauler bed
2) 2006 GMC 4500 22,000 miles, 16 foot flatbed
I'll be using the truck to tote a 24' flatbed gooseneck trailer and a 32'x8' high gooseneck cargo trailer.
The GMC is $9000 more. The rest of the features and physical condition are pretty much the same.
Any thoughts?

The 06 hands down
Still under factory warranty:D
Longer wheelbase will be more stable but tougher tight turns
as long as you can get the goosy down in the bed

Thanks for the reply.
That was my thought too; even with cash being so tight right now.
I've done some research since I made the original post and I don't think I can make the gooseneck work. Bed height is 42", gooseneck needs to be 23" to 28" max. That's a 19" deep well.
Don't think its gonna work.

Remove goose tube and replace with 5th wheel tube that would be easier to connet to. , also most gooses are adjustable, and they have a 5th wheel to goose set-up so you can tow both. 2006 is better as a age but the 03 has no kitty or any other junk.

$9k diff for the 06 with low miles seems like the sweet deal there . Late model injectors and variable geometry turbo . Its a plus plus plus with the 06 . Should be much more reliable in comparison . A small tow tune and 2 gauges (egt, boost -in blank holes on dash)and your set . Front springs /better shocks / taller tires and shes a runner .
Id do the 06 if you could . Both the trailers you have should be legal in total length .
The 5500 is sweet still also , you just have to be ready for possible repairs . Try to take a look at what kinds of issues the 5500 has had in its history . Truck still has alot of life . All it would ever need really is a fresh motor . Thats not to bad if score a deal on it .
Maybe if there was a 15K diff , it would be more equal .
