The tires on the truck are down to the bottoms of the wear markers (as in I cannot see the wear markers) and I think I might like to try one of these fancy burnouts you all are talking about........

Is there a way to do it that dosent involve clutch slippage? Im only running a 40 horse chip............

Any tips? If I get into second gear (3rd on the lever), and apply the brakes and throttle at the same time, will it get me the desired effect?

I think second (on the lever) might be too slow..........

Any ideas? Maybe Ill try it out on dirt first.

Left foot on the clutch, right foot heel on the brake and toe on the throttle. Tricky part is to not push the brake too hard. It takes some practice. You will probably need to be in 1st (2) to do it.

I usually just sidestep the clutch in second at 3K, and brush the clutch with my foot just barley ,jam third and itll usually take it all the way. I found you either gotta go all the way and sidestep at 2700 or higher, or you will start wheel hopping harshly. But i'm also alittle hard on gear:D

If it just started raining you go thru 5 of them. I would say 6 but I was trying to keep it in the road.

here's how i did them on my old f-150.....

find a corner that doesnt have a lot of traffic (asphalt of course). go around the corner at a normal speed (2nd usually).. then hammer it. your ass end will slide out from behind you and when it does that reach for 3rd and hammer it again. usually if youve got either a- the power or b- bad tires you will continue to slow down more and more granted you keep shifting. also when you shift, let off the throttle some, but now all the way. side-step the clutch on each shift. takes some practice to get right, and is pretty dangerous if it's a blind corner, but it's one of the most fun ways to do it.

Ya, Ive done most everything except the burnout. We are expecting a little rain on Sat, maybe Ill try it then......

Last time when we had the rains, I was out and it was plenty easy to break it loose even in 4th and 5th gears. I should have tried the burnout then..........

Ill give it a try on dirt first, and then move on up.....I am just trying to avoid the Rev it up and sidestep the clutch deal.

Ill snap a pic of the tires, some of you might get a laugh........

OK, I've been driving stick for my whole driving life, but I have never heard the term "sidestep" for the clutch..... What is this? I've probably done it, just not familiar with the term... Thanks

Push clutch to floor, put truck into gear, apply throttle until desired RPM is obtained, slide foot off of clutch allowing it to spring up without any resistance.

Best case, tires will immediately lose traction and spin rapidly, worst case tires will (suddenly) gain traction potentially resulting in the catastrophic failure of one or more drivetrain components... ):h

Ahh yes, I am familiar with the technique. I'm used to it being called "popping" the clutch. Thanks Joe!!!:muahaha:

What you do is set your chip to a 85hp setting (assuming it goes that high), find a nice flat piece of road in the country, drop the clutch at about 2000 in 2nd, grab third at WOT, then fourth, and then finally begin to hook up in 5th. I enjoyed doing this just the other evening with the predator set on it's 85hp setting. Impressive tire, and exhuast smoke):h .

I just gave it a shot.......

The roads were a tad wet, but not much. I was unable/unwilling to do it in any gear but first.....

Ide go about 15 mph, and then get on the brake and throttle at the same time, and after a little time to build boost, sure enough she broke loose. I was glad to see it was peaceful, and not a violent and catastrophic event. I may try it more often...........

I did have a small trailer attached, so I couldnt go too crazy........I dont think I spun them faster than 25 or so........

Kinda fun, but I didnt see any smoke at all.

if no smoke, you didn't go fast enough...... :)

The trick is to pop the clutch(most likely in second with enough rpm to make the truck not stall) and as soon as the rears break loose, you hit the brakes with enough force to slow the fronts down and possibly stop them(theoretically, the frictional coefficient will be enough on the fronts for you to reach a braking point where the rears will keep spinning while the fronts remain still) this will build the heat required to make smoke. You can also put a bit of bleach down where the rears will sit while doing this...
