On my way home this afternoon she started stumbling. I had the cruise set at 72mph. After getting off the freeway it drove fine at lower speeds. I got home and cut it off. Started it back up an hour later to move trailer around yard. Parked it and cut it off. Now it on't start at all just turns over. It turns over fast and batteries are fully charged. Tried spare pmd I had in garage still nothing. Opened bleeder valve and there is fuel coming out with key on during GP cycle. Can hear the lift pump running.I'm lost!:(

Blown fuel solenoid fuse or bad fuel solenoid?

Bison
04-05-2009, 10:11 PM
For starters, see if you got power at the fuel shut off solenoid with key on. If you do. Have someone cycle the key on and off and listen for FSO clicking, best to do that with a piece of hose.
Dont mistake the click with the glow controller relay.
If you dont have power, check the wiring back to the rear of engine for a break or chafing incl the connectors.
Check fuses.
Check PMD extension harnass and connectors.
Plug PMD in at the pump, see if it works there

Also, check for air at the fuel filter bleed screw before any thing else.

Where is the Fuel solenoid?

h2omelon
04-05-2009, 10:51 PM
No air at the fuel filter. Opened the bleeder on the fuel filter and turned on the key got fuel running out of it. Fuel solenoid is clicking.

fuel solenoid is a small cylinder shaped silver thing on the top of the IP. Cant miss it. Take off the turbo power cover and you can see it.

Got any codes?

h2omelon
04-05-2009, 11:25 PM
I haven't been able to check for codes. It is parked in the street in front of my house dead. The CEL was not on when I parked it. I don't have a scan tool.

You need to get it scanned though.
Check engine light on?
You know, I had the same symtoms on my 95 a month ago, I swapped the pmd to my 98,and the symtom followed to the 98. Bad PMD.So how good is your spare?

h2omelon
04-05-2009, 11:59 PM
The spare is brand new never been installed. I plugged it in to the extension harness and no change. I have another extension cable I will try.

so what if you plug it in at the IP,that will rule out the ext cable.

do you have a DVOM/DMM? you can check the extension harness for resistance.

Did you have your harness extension zip tied to anything or was it free to move around?

h2omelon

Zip tied about every 8-10"
