They xmitt an RF signal that the radar reads as a "Fixed Speed", what ever you have cranked in.

Lets say you have it set at 60 mph, the radar locks in, the officer stops you in a 35 mph school zone.....uh oh. :badidea: :help:

They also violate "Federal Law" if you do not have a license for it, and you would not be able to obtain a license.

I don't get it, you can jam them, but they are going to know. And it's amazing how many things they can find to sight you for.

I use the Phazer II Radar/Laser Detector/Scrambler from Rocky Mountain Radar, simialr to the current C430 model. It works great.

It works by sending "garbage" back with the return signal which confuses the radar/laser gun, and gives you time to slow down. It works well at further distances. The closer you are to the gun, less the garbage scrambles the signal, and the less time you have to slow down. Check'em out at:
http://www.rockymountainradar.com/ about $200.

P.S> check out their "unauthorized seller list" before purchasing

I've never heard of a passive type that works worth a crap, and the active ones are pretty illegal without going through a lot of red tape. Even then, it looks like a real grey area to me.

I use a Passport detector and call it good at that. We need to remember everyone's safety out on the road. Mine is for avoiding the "stupid tickets" for being only a few miles over the speed limit that would significantly raise my insurance at my age.

run abell, have personally tested the laser jamers and they work great the ones that mount as a license plate frame, just sends back a scattered signal and the gun wont register like a bad lock on. tested it on an is 300 lexus. As for the jammers you pay for what you get, try to find one that sends back a bad signal like no lock or flashes the gun to 00

It's funny that you have good results with them...Most stories I've heard (at least the Rocky mountain ones phasars I believe) are they don't work...

I also see a lot of those being sold as remanufactured in many discount catalogs...

Must have something to do with customers not liking them or they break a lot.

Coyote, you are aware that here in Montana 10mph over is only a $20 ticket and it doesn't go on your record to affect your insurance? Remember the good o'le days of the $5 waste of fuel conservation ticket? Kinda the same thing, the insurance company never knows.... And we all remember back when Montana had NO speed limit.... Ah the good 'ole days...

Really? I was not aware of that! The five dollar days were good, but they were on their way out before I actually started driving. And the no speed limit days were just insane...I'm actually glad they did away with that, personally.

Either way, I do my best to avoid any and all confrontations with our local police department. Currently, I'm serving 20 hours community service and paid a $310 fine to the local donut fund for a little run-in I had a couple weeks back.

But it was a killer party!):h :ro)

I agree to an extent on the no speed limit, we had too many idiots running triple digits in cars that were barely safe at 60! I'm talking 1973 plymouth dusters, that kinda stuff. Not too mention a lot of the out of staters that would come out here and fly along at 130+ in their sports cars, they ruined it for everyone else. Reasonable and Prudent didn't mean triple digits weaving in and out of traffic! Don't get me wrong, I've seen a speedo wound up to 173, but there is a time and place for it.
