I just a 2002 dmax and love it!...just wondering if there is way to tell if my truck has factory high idle?....or is the only way to try it (using the cruise control somehow?)

just thinking to myself...was this even a factory option?

I do not believe yours does. Lots of vendors sell the kits, simple install but go to the stealer and get a few extra 'pins' I bent mine... IIRC your gonna' throw 12v to a set 'pin' to the computer brain and then it is controlled via cruise control... on is 800, set is 1500 and resume is 1750. those #'s are not accurate but close. I really only use the lowest one..

There are very detailed instructions for this mod at http://www.kennedydiesel.com/

The only thing I did different was getting my 12V source from a wire on my brake pedal switch. IIRC, it is the 5th wire from the front of the vehicle. It has 12 volts on it as long as it is not depressed. By using this is a your 12V source, you will never forget to disable it since you have to depress the brake to put it in gear anyway.

Do a search in the DIY section for more details about the 12V source.

Is there a mystery toggle switch on the dash somewhere that doesn't look factory? Probably for the high idle...flip it on and press the cruise control to see if your revs increase. Or flip the swithc and try going for a drive over 30 mph and if your truck sputters and won't go over 30 mph, then it's your high idle...that's how I found out my dash toggle was the high idle on my used dmax.
