for me on this forum (fanfare)
I am building a 4x4. No its not a GM product. I want to use the 480L (lisdexic typr 4L80) transmission from my 2wd 97 GMC. The current transmission in the project vehicle is a TH400. The question is, can I take the output shaft from the 400 and install it into the 4L80? (nessessary to mate to transfer case, obviously)
Let's go to the phones....er, keyboard.

Call advandced adapters they allready got that one figured out.
I think you will find that the housing on the 4l80 as a little different as well. I did =)

Yes sir, an adapter will be needed to mate the transmission to the transfer case, most definitely. I know I can stick the output shaft into an 4L60, but not sure about the 80.

For those Jeep owners who may be interested...
According to AA, you cannot use the 10 spline output shaft from a TH400 in a 4L80e. I am unswayed from using that in my design however, as I intend to find a good machine shop to make one that will work. I can't see it costing more than one of AA's products.
