My truck is a '04.5 LLY I just put a Magnaflow 4" system on, downpipe back. I also installed the egr plate and finger stick. I have a Predator running at 100hp. Just went for a test drive to a 110mph, max boost and max egt (SPA digital guage) was 21.9psi and 1,668 degrees:eek: Why the heck is my boost so low? I'm guessing that is why my EGT is so high. Aren't most of you LLY guys seeing close to 30psi? Also, what should the Predator be showing for boost when monitoring? it says Boost 0.0 kpa all the time. Do I have an engine boost sensor out that is not letting the VGT work right?
Checked, there are no DTC's set.
Thanks!

Predators are notorious for serious EGT's.
Even on my LB7 the Predator on 100HP would get to 1400-1500 degrees....EMPTY.
Be careful...........;)

The funny thing is, I've been running the Predator at 100hp for a while now, the new exhaust didn't seem to drop the temps at all. I have a very thin EGT probe that reacts very quickly, I'm estimating that 1500 short burst would probably equal out to around 1300 on a standard pyro....

Well the Predator says 0 on my truck as well...everybody says it won't read boost so that part of the equation is fine.
We'll see what my nearly identical setup runs once I get my pyro hooked up this weekend, hopefully.
Would you be interested in the dyno day I posted about in the "Get Together" forum?

Here's an update Pwdr:
I got my gauges finished last night, and I see a maximum of 22 psi boost and approximately 1600°F on the pyro, pre-turbo on a full-throttle run to 110 mph. We're running nearly identical temps! So, it looks like we're both seeing the same things, which is good since we're in the same area (altitude, etc.).
As I said before, the Predator will also read 0 kpa boost, so all is well there too. I'll be trying different tunes in the future, so we'll see if we can get the same power with lower EGTs from a different tune.
Keep in mind that this is with completely stock exhaust on my truck, right down to the cat, muffler, and EGR.

kill the kitty. it made a big difference for me. I used to be able to peg my autometer pyrometer, now I get a max of ~1450. :)

Cool, exhaust is the next mod I'm going to make when funds allow. I got my first slightly longer trip tonight (100 miles) and noticed a tremendous difference in regard to speed:
@ 80 mph with cruise set, empty, flat ground --- 850° to 900°
@ 70 mph with cruise set, empty, flat ground --- 650° to 675°
This is at approximately 4500 to 5000 ft. altitude, so keep that in mind.
Hopefully 4" or 5" and an MIA feline will drop things a couple hundred degrees. We'll see, I guess. I'm definitely beginning to believe the Predators are truly EGT monsters as I was warned!
