This has prolly been brought up a million time and then some, but can the techs trace the use of a chip after it has been restored to stock operating codes.
People are telling me that the techs can trace everything that has everything that has ever been done to your motor. Is this true or not?
I would like to know the truth or myth of this.
THANKS TO ALL!

I am pretty sure the right person could tell if a downloader type tuner was added. An average GM tech, I doubt it.
One guy I knew blew the tranmission on his 6.0L Ford. Ford denied the warranty because they were able to see that the truck was going faster then the speed limiter would allow when it blew up. At least that's what they told him.....

From what I've seen, they can find what revision level your flash is, when it was last flashed, the last time codes were reset.
If you reflash your computer before bringing it in to a dealer, they can tell it was "reset" at XXX,XXXmi. You can tell them you reset it to see if the codes would go away.
Now if you hit a tree, they can tell how fast you were going and whether you hit the brakes first, but that is a different computer.
What about the edge??? Does it store some type of code in factory ecm that performance tuning was used?
Edge is a harness, doesnt touch the ECM/PCM, so no. It simply intercepts commands and modifies them before they actually hit the engine.
