i know that the 6.0 had problems. did ford fix them for the 07 model year? are any of the reliable?

The 05-07 6.0's are very reliable, i'm not just saying that because that's what I own, they are still prone to blowing head gaskets with a hot tune. I see that happening mostly around the 80K-100K mile range.

We had an 06 at work that was a really good truck. It was a F-550 and it did everything we asked it to do. No motor problems and we worked it like a dog for 60,000 miles in a year and then are yard was closed.

An sct tuner by itself will bring a 6.0 right up to 400-430rwhp. I haven't had mine on a dyno yet but I will say somewhere around 800rwhp. Possibly around 580ish on diesel. That's with Elite's vgt H-O and 225cc injectors.

do an egr cooler delete if you get a 6 liter. it will help with head gasket probs.
