Was driving home and the truck suddenly became a real handful when the idler pulley froze and tore the belt to black dust and jammed the remains into the fan.
You can tell instantly when that happens and you best have some Popeye forearms and nobody in front slamming on the brakes! ('cuz they ain't gonna work)
I did want to post a TIP. Putting the new belt on is easy if you put the belt around every pulley EXCEPT the passenger side alternator THEN pull the tensioner to get enough slack to get the belt on the alt pulley. I was trying to put the belt on the tensioner last and that was not working. Just ask my bleeding fingers. This may be obvious to everyone else, but it wasn't to me. Hopefully, it will aid someone else in the future.;)
