: Onstar
ottomatic 04-01-2009, 10:35 AM While driving into work this morning Onstar called me and asked me why I wasn't wearing my seatbelt!. Also if there was a "problem"?.. I tried to explain that the seat belt warning chime and light works intermittly (anyone else's do this?) and I totaly forgot. Onstar then told me they had been "monitoring" my truck and driving habits as part of a study. I was told to immediatly set up an appointment with a dealer to get the seatbelt problem fixed. WTF. Anyone else hear of this????
duramex 04-01-2009, 10:39 AM Big brother is watching you
13Fox 04-01-2009, 11:01 AM One of the many reasons I didn't want Onstar on my truck.

Yeah, they called me a few days ago too. Wanted to know why I was going over the posted speed limit.

duramax9878 04-01-2009, 03:30 PM that is gay that is y i dont have onstar
AgoosSS 04-01-2009, 11:04 PM Well, this may be April fools, but I do also have an intermittent problem with my seatbelt warning and chime. That damn chime will sometimes go off non stop while driving down the road. I have to turn off the truck and re-start and one time I had to pull the battery cable to get it to quit. The chime quit all together, never ever hearing it for about six months then the problem came back. It has been to the dealer and since it doesn't do it for them they can't find a problem. I do have On star and they have never called.
duramex 04-02-2009, 12:16 AM Big Brother still watching you no matter what

gralewaj 04-02-2009, 04:28 AM Just unplug the sensor... There are two wires that snap into your seatbelt harness. They can be disconnected very easily. No more annoying ding ding ding when you take your seatbelt off two blocks from your driveway like I do... I believe there is a DIY thread about this.
gralewaj 04-02-2009, 04:34 AM Here's the thread I saw. There are several others that ara far more complicated, but this worked great for me!

haha my dad does this too and I still dont understand why it makes any sense whatsoever. Are you planning some fast getaway or something as soon as you pull in your driveway and throw the truck in park? Wearing it 99% of the time during a 3 hour trip doesnt do much good if you crash in the last 1%. Not preaching or anything, its completely your choice, I just dont understand the logic in why some people do that (take the seatbelt off as part of the "pre-landing checklist")

I actually un-buckle mine if I have to backup. Pain to backup with it on especially with a heavy winter coat on.
mmangels22 04-02-2009, 11:01 AM seatbelt tickets in my area are INSANE in prices and cops love people without seatbelts on!!! I always have mine on, even if I am driving a really short distance!
moonone 04-02-2009, 01:05 PM Try removeing the 30 pack from the passager seat
trinidiesel 04-02-2009, 03:00 PM I wear my seatbelt sometimes...cops are too lazy to care up here unless its the end of the month then there out for tickets !!!
