when my light comes on with my 26 gallon tank, I know I have 3 gallons left because I always add about 22-23.

LB's are pretty close to that as well, I think the light kicks in at about 29 of 34 Gal..

Best is to fill when down about half tank. Can't see cutting it close and there is a lot of variation in when the fuel light comes on. Guess I may be overly spooked in this area but never have run out of fuel or sweated it.

I though a lot of guys where running out of fuel shortly after the light came on.

when my light comes on in my short box, it takes about 22 gal. to fill the tank to within a few inches of the filler tube top. So,, probably 3 gal left, but I'm chicken to find out!!!

I would start looking to fill-up when at a quarter full. Otherwise, it's a bear to re-start when the fuel line is dry.

My fuel light never seems to come on, and I normally fill up in the 23-24 gallon range. I did see my light twice in my trucks life, but with a 26 gallon tank it seems that I'm pushing the fringe. Than again, if I'm travelling locally I know where the fuel stops are, if I'm out of town, I don't push it.

I have about 2 gal left when my light comes on. I push it frequently when I am on my home turf. When I am out of town I don't push it below a 1/4 tank but I know what my limits are if I ever have to use them.

My low feul lite came on when I was test-driving before I bought it. Mentioned that to the dealer when I got back from my 'short' test drive. Told me that with the 26 gallon tank I can go another 9 to 10 miles once the lite comes on. Never called it that close, haven't seen the lite since.

There seems to be a lot of variability in the gauge. I don't like to drop below 1/4 tank when outside of town. When I am at 1/4 tank, I have about 4 or 5 gallons left.

I have noticed that when I restart the engine after a stop, the fuel gauge will be one or two ticks higher than when I stopped. This only happens when the gauge is down between 1/4 and 1/2 full. After you drive a few miles it will settle back to the original level.

I once stopped for fuel and didn't turn off the truck to fuel up. The gauge never budged during fueling. I thought I had broken the sending unit. It didn't clear up until I was about 80 miles down the road.

I've found my guage to be fairly acurate. Never let the needle drop below E. The DIC range is scary. I've gotten to 19 hauling in the middle of New Mexico (map showed what I thought were fuel stops) And, I got to 19 hauling and ran out. In both cases, the needle was at the bottom of E. Now, I carry an extra 5 Gallons in a can when traveling.

my dealer told me that when the light comes on i had another 20-40 miles left depending on how i drive it. i have driven 30 on it once because there were no stations where i was.. but i dropped down to about 40MPH... never have done that again.
