: Exhaust question.
Buickpuller 04-20-2005, 09:26 AM Installed a stock front pipe off a 2003 Duramax in place of the convertor on my 2005 duramax with aftermarket 4 inch flange back system. Any disadvantage using the 2003's front pipe? The stock pipe looked like 4 inch to me.

madmax69 04-20-2005, 10:04 PM Very nice.... I'm assuming it's 'stock' ):h like 99% of the Buicks out there?
You ever attend the nationals in Bowling Green? It's a blast, and you won't believe how many cars you'll see. I thought I had the only GS left in the world till I went to my first one in 1989. Couldn't believe it.
I feel like these trucks are kinda like the GN's in the early 90's with all the mods going on to them. I can't believe how easy it is to make power. I got my truck back from the dealer today after they did the brake recall and loaded the 85hp predator tune in for the first time (i normally only run the 40hp) just to see what it would do and HOLY CRAP. I smoked out a whole intersection, between the black smoke and the TIRE smoke.....:ro)
i put the 40hp tune back in. I would never be able to behave with the higher tune. My foot was doin that goofy adrenaline shake :help2:
crfrcr 04-20-2005, 10:45 PM Madmax, what was the brake recall? I have moved twice since buying my truck and am never sure if I get the notices.. Thanks

In process of building stock appearing high horsepower motor, with all the other stock appearing goodies to make car go really fast. Check out "gesslerheadporting.com". His cars are crazy fast for stock appearing.
Have future plans for nationals.
I have had my 2005 Chevy for 2 weeks and already have the bug. I have had 3 Grandnationals and agree. Kinda worried about taking off the cat on my truck though. I guess I am being paranoid. Seems I am trying to find something wrong.
madmax69 04-21-2005, 11:14 AM Buickpuller, Greg Gessler did the heads and intake on my 65 GS nailhead. He does superb work, you won't be dissapointed. It runs waaay better then it should, (and looks). He is the man.... Sounds like it'll be awesome when you finish. Good luck.!
I'm trying to talk myself into removing the cat also. I can't decide if it's worth it, or to do a cat back exhaust. The questions I have get brought up every day on this board, but I don't seem to get any answers that sway me either way. Mine just was at the dealer yesterday, so I figured not touching the exhaust till it's back. Well, it's done, and now i've got the itch also. I'll letcha know what happens if I do.

There is a recall on the hydro-boost unit. Took them about an hour to check it, and fix a bad shock I had. Must not be a big deal, cause they said it passed the test and was fine. If you ask the dealer they should be able to run your VIN and see if it's affected. I think it only affects some 05's...., but could be wrong.

On the way to work today I got the check engine light. Looks like finger thing and EGR disconnect are the way to go. I agree Gessler is the best for head porting and such.
Wonder if disconnect EGR will beneficial at this time until I get finger thing?
Anyone who might know the answer please chime in.
Thanks for all the help.
