Not sure which topic to post this under, but it's definately not a diesel-specific question.

I've got an '04 GMC 2500HD Sierra, DMax/Allison with the in-dash CD changer/XM stereo unit & am wondering how I can go about using my iPod with this setup (Podcasting & all...).

Obviously can't use a cassette adapter - is there an FM transciever or something that can be used?

if theres not a mini-jack in (2.5mm headphone) on the in dash unit (would require a mini-to-mini cable), i know that ipod sells fm tranmitters through their website (and so do other retailers). also, check for rca inputs on the in dash unit (i don't have you truck, but I'd guess that if they exist, you'd find them on the back of the radio head. unless your a car audio expert, just run down to some place that sells car stereo (the good stuff) and ask, and they should be able to get what you need in 2 seconds.

Check out JPcustoms.com they have everything you need to hook up the IPOD several different ways. Best option is probably the "Ipod2car adaptor"

Walmart has an adaptor that plugs into the headphone jack and plays through the car stero. We use on with our laptop. Less than $20, more if you want the digital display one.

Dension is supposed to have the hot setup now, and I'm waiting on it to be developed for the Chevy trucks. They say it will be out "soon."

I would try to stay away from the FM Modulated ones. Not bad for the price, but then you take your digital quality music and turn it into radio station quality. My wife just got an Ipod and I'm going to install the "ipod2car" adapter in her 04 Tahoe with the same radio you have. As long as you don't have a separate changer the adapter will plug right in. The best part is that you can then use your steering wheel controls to control your ipod and the display will show up on the radio.

Ebay has them for $160 plus $10 shipping.

there is an adapter for your stock stereo that is 89 bucks. It hooks up directly to your stock stereo and is controlled with your AUX button. it has 2 additional inputs for ipod and ??. I got mine at Pacific Stereo in Corona, CA. They installed it for 25 bucks. I had them mount the RCA in jacks right on the knee bolster in case there is anything else I want to plug in occasionally.

FM modulators are really a poor choice in comparison. The sound reproduction difference is like night and day!
