I'm looking at getting rid of a tool box full of assorted hitch ball mounts and balls and going to a http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Hitches/Alumistinger_ball_mount.htm (http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Hitches/Alumistinger_ball_mount.htm) with a http://www.convert-a-ball.com/ (http://www.convert-a-ball.com/) stainless set-up.
Do any of you have any experience with any of these ? Is the convert-a-ball set up reliable ? I heard from somewhere that putting aluminum and stainless together causes corrosion, is this true ?

I hace the same ball and love it until you dont change it for a while and the pin seizes up I have ruined two drift pins while beating them with a 8# hammer and ball is still stuck on. I soaked it PB blaster for about 8 hours before beating.
So if you buy it make sure to grease the snot out of it very regularly or you will be in the same boat

I've been using an original (round pin) Convert-A-Ball unit now for about 10 years with no problems. The pin does get a bit obstinate if not changed often but I usually keep WD40 on it and usually a light tap will move it. I regularly tow a 8k boat with it. They really come in handy if you have, or tow trailers with different ball sizes. IIRC they are made in my original home town, Sidney NE. :)

Have you seen the all aluminum hitches that are fully adjustable for different bumper heights, they also have 4 different size balls that you can change in about 10 seconds by pulling a pin.(no need for wd40) I saw the hitch at my local trailer supply house. Sorry I don't have a link or pic maybe somebody else knows what I'm talking about.

Personally I Would Not Get One . You Cannot Use Weight Distribution If You Need Too . Also You Cannot Use Anti Sway Devices With That Type Of Hitch.

i had a convert-a-ball on my last truck and liked it ok. what sucks is you have to keep the tools and extra balls and hope that when you change it, the pin isnt too stuck. i let it go when i sold the truck and got one of the solid receivers with 3 balls on the end and love it. its much easier, all i have to do is take the receiver pin out and rotate the mount to whatever size ball i want to use. this setup is cheaper too, $40, and there is only one thing to buy or worry about.
