: Tires for 20s (PICS)
dmaxn04 03-29-2009, 12:43 PM Anyone running any 285/50 or 55R20? Got any pics? I am trying to decide between those or 305/55r20s. I have seen 305/55r20 with the T bars cranked. It looks good but thats a lot of tire to tug when your tryin to be quick and hit the track some but still have a good look truck.. Pics of both sizes would be awesome..

blackbird505 04-02-2009, 03:13 PM I'm searching for this same request. I have 305/50/20's now and the driver side tire rubs/has broken the plactic on the rear of the wheel well. I am alos looking for and LT tire this time (load range E). The LT285/55/20 has near the same specs of my old tires, but I am unsure of the loss in width. I think it may look funny with the wheel sticking out like it does and the tire not being very wide....

That doesn't look bad, is your Tbars down?

drenner43 04-06-2009, 09:56 AM Try a 275-60-20...It's 33" tall tire but not as wide as the 305. I have them in the Cooper Zeon LTZ's on my 20x9's and they look great in my opinion. Turned the torsions up 6 turns to level it and barely had to trim the front plastic valance.

Have you made a tire purchase yet? I will try to post pics of my new 285 / 55/ r20's if you would like.
So far I like them. I came from 305/50/20's. These 285's are load range E where the 305's were only D's. They really don't look much smalller than the 305's.
duramax hd 04-13-2009, 12:07 PM Dmaxn04 no my T-bars are cranked up a few turns from a few years ago but they are going to come down along with the rear end via shackles to get it down a few inches or so. With the 285-55's it looks like I can lower the t-bars without any problems rubbing but like everyone says, backspacing has a lot to do with that. I believe mine are +14.
whitecc 04-13-2009, 12:48 PM I have 275 65 R20 on my truck (34" x 11")...I think it looks great plus they are load range E. You can find them used with little wear on them as I did mine because they are stock tires off of the new Superduty's with stock 20's. Picked mine up practically brand new for $350 for the set. I will try to get some pics.
underaltec 04-14-2009, 11:03 PM I'd like to see pictures of your truck blackbird505 with the 285/55r20 Nitto TG. Once my 33x12.5r20 Toyo MT wear out i'll be purchasing the exact same set.
dmaxn04 04-18-2009, 12:34 PM 285/55 is a taller tire then the 305/50 right? About half inch. The 305 is just wider.

Thats a good looking tire, how are they wearing? Are they super soft?
Promised myself when I retired I would get a 2500 DM. Well, I'm retired and negotiating on a low miles 08 LTZ DM. It has 6" lift w/ toyo 35/12.5/R20s. Beautiful. Now, reading these posts I have questions. Like, does the computer have to be reprogramed? and does reprogramming cause the ECM to change? If so, does that screw w/ the warranty? Also, does this tire setup screw w/ Stabiltrak or ABS? Any advice would sure be helpful.......thanks.
