so, i took my truck into the dealer today to introduce the 3rd chevy on the roster. asked for the tailgate cable and for a re-flash because i did not know the history.... they asked for $100! no thanks.

i thought this was a courtesy thing to make sure you are updated?

If you are off warranty you would have to pay for the reflash.

yes... i guess what surprised me, was that it was not priced based on labor.... it seems priced based on a propietary product. i thought that when you buy the truck, you buy the programming and updates with it, just pay the shop rate for labor time.

oh well, if that's the way it is, then it is.

i'm starting to read through the performance section, and i'm realizing that i've got a helleva lot more than $100 to spend on this thing. a friend at work loves his bmw m3 and how fast it is. he runs a 13.3. i keep thinking how sweet the victory would be for him to see the back of my bumper at the track.

Heck, I rented a Tech and a tech 2 for 6 hours (during oilchanges etc) to flash my truck.... cost me 180.00

And any other reflash has been done for 35.00 while getting reg serv done.

Yes $100 for a reflash is way too much. I wouldn't let my dealer get away with that.
