Yes it is the same airbox...

No, the 8.1 has the snorkle, no mass air flow sensor on the top, and the mounting of the lid is slightly different.

I am trying to fit this air box with my ram air hood.


The vendor says its for gas 8.1 or 6.0.


What are your thoughts???????????????

An AFE or K&N air intake kit should work with that hood. The gas engines have a separate MAS, while the diesel has one built into the air box. The AFE and K&N has a place to put the MAS electronics.

I only need the air box to combine it with a AFE intake.

No, you only need the hood. Even if the box they are trying to sell you seals up at the hole in the hood, that is not enought air for the diesel. The hood will supply cold air, but not a ram effect. Spool up will be quicker with an open cone filter, rather than a closed up box with a 4" hole in it. I belive the K&N and AFE come with a heat shield like the one pictured above.
