well the bolts had backed out of the torque converter and rattled in the fly wheel causing it to wallow out the bolt holes. my question is are all 6.2 automatic flywheels the same or is it specifically for my 700r. and same for the converter because the threads could be messed up and is a 700 converter the same for gas or diesel?

convertor, diesel is different but you can use gas if you have to, it won't lock up as low in rpm. 700r is its own flexplate, same as th350 IIRC, but different than th400. flex plates are fairly cheap new.

The first thing needed is to determine the cause of the torque converter / flywheel (flexplate) bolts coming loose. This can be caused by a worn or misshaped centering button on the front of the torque converter which should slip snugly into the hole in the rear of the crankshaft. Also looseness between the engine/transmission centering pins can cause misalignment of the transmission.

When replacing the flywheel, the flywheel/crankshaft bolt torque is 65 lt-ft. The torque converter/flywheel bolt torque is45-46 lb-ft. I normally use locktite on theese bolts after inspecting them for acceptable wear. Replacement factory torque converter bolts are precoated with a locking compound.
