Hello All,

I have had my 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD for about 5 weeks now and the dark pewter leather is starting to show its small creases on the drivers bottom seat towards the door. I can see this happens just by sitting in the truck but I do not want it to crack like most do. Does anyone have any special leather secrets or any advice as to what I should treat my seats with to make keep them as nice as I can?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Have the same wrinkle effect on mine where I slide my fanny out the door. Happens to any leather. Mequiars and Armorall both make fairly good leather cleaner/moisturizer products, saddle soap is good. There is another product, can't remember the name, but is sold in good shoe stores and boot shops. Comes in a brown squeeze bottle with I think a horse on the label. Does great on leather. All this stuff takes 20-30 minutes to do entire vehicle and should be done 2 or 3 X per yr.
Our 97 Nissan looks wrinkled all over but no cracks, just well used and aged but it is kept up with the above products.

Zaino makes a good product also, leather in a bottle. They also have a good leather cleaner. My drivers seat is doing the same as all the others. Our 03 Suburban is the same.

I have 01 truck, have used Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner since new. My leather still looks and smells brand new. No rips no tears. :thumb:

Tips on leather care (I do this for a living) 1) clean first with a water based cleaner (formula 409, simple green, etc.) with a soft scrub pad or soft brush and lots of cleaner, dry with a towel and then apply a good conditioner. 2) keep leather cool in hot weather via tinted windows, sun shades and or cracking the windows and 3) Don't "slide" out of the truck, step up and out.

I have tried them all and the best...far and above is a product made by leatherique.

http://www.leatherique.com

I wished I had used it when the truck was new...it probably would have prevented those creases people are seeing.

BTW: My 98 tahoe never had those damn creases...it just cheaper leather in the trucks now.

The amazing thing about leatherique is that the oil tightens up the leather and softens at the same time. You have to leave it on for about 2 days without using the truck for best results.

Name of the leather conditioner that I couldn't remember is "Bick 4", company name is Bickmore. Really great stuff.
